Thomas Burdick, 26, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Redfield,SD, died March 10, 2012 in Deul County, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 16, 2012 at 1030 a.m. at St Bernard's Catholic Church in Redfield. Father Christopher Hughes will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8:00 p.m. with a rosary and scriptural wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home. Thomas was born September 16, 1985 in Redfield, the oldest of seven, to Jim and Deborah (Seppanen) Burdick. He graduated from Redfield High School in 2004. He enlisted in the United states Air Force serving 4 years at a high level security job in communications at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. He also served as a member of the Peterson AFB Honor Guard. Thomas served a tour at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait with the 386th Espeditionary Communications Squadron. After his discharge, he worked as a contract worker at Camp Victory in Iraq. He moved to Sioux Falls in the fall of 2011, and was attending Colorado Technical University, Studying Networking Management and was proud to be on the President's list with a 4.0 grade average.

Thomas loved to travel, he made his frist trip to Europe while in high school, then again with his brother Lucas and was planning to go again this year with his sister Candace. He also spent time taking many trips around the United States. Last summer, Thomas his brother Michael and 5 friends took a canoe trip through the Boundary Waters. He enjoyed many family activites with his siblings and extended family.

He was an avid lego builder and was currently working on a six foot tall Warhammer Mech. He also enjoyed furnishing his new home and walking and exploring his neighborhood. Thomas was a 3rd degree member of the knights of Columbus in Redfield.

Thomas is survived by his parents, Jim and Deborah; his siblings: Rachel Burdick of Goodyear, AZ, Michael, Lucas, Candace, Joanna and Simon Burdick all of Redfield, his grandma Elnora Burdick of Redfield, his grandpa Stewart Seppanen of Vienna, SD and his aunts and uncles: Gene and Lucy Burdick, Don and Judy Burdick, Sue and Mark Tokach, Gerry and Julie Burdick, Jon and Cathy Seppanen, Amos and Susan Seppanen, Dan and Nina Seppanen, Lydia and Kurt Kargela, Anna Seppanen, Levi and Mia Seppanen, Paul and Kristin Seppanen, Andrew and Ruthie Seppanen, Julia and Conrad Kaiser and Nathan and Wanda Seppanen; along with numberous cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa Steve Burdick and Grandma Cora Seppanen.
