Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 21, 2002, Saturday, p. 2-B:

SHREVEPORT, LA – Mr. Henry Kneeland Phelps, III, 74, passed away at his residence on Thursday, December 19, 2002 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on December 21, 2002 from 4 until 7 p.m. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 22 at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. George Bloomingdale with Masonic graveside rites following.

Mr. Phelps was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport prior to moving to Benton 12 years ago. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and belonged to the El Karubah Shrine, Broadmoor Masonic Lodge, York Rite and the Elk's Lodge. He was a retired Petroleum Landman.

Mr. Phelps is survived by his wife, Arlene Phelps; son, Edward Ruff Phelps and wife, Julie and their children, Heather, Kneeland and Emily of Muskogee, OK;, son, Hank Phelps and wife, Patty and their daughter, Callie of Conway, AR; daughter, Lois Luce and husband, Al and their so of Fox, AR; daughter, Helen Rutledge and husband, Bo and their children of Shreveport, LA; two step daughters, Maria Davidson and her husband, Stephen and their children, Jeremy and Meredith of Blanchard, LA; Camissa Decker and her sons, Brayden and Collin of Haughton, LA.

The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Odyssey Hospice, and caregivers, Melisa Franklin and Demetris Hampton.
