Decatur Daily Review: Decatur, IL., Dec. 13, 1904
Thrown from Caboose Platform and Run Over at DepotLatham, Ills., Dec. 13 - - Phillip Moeller, an aged man, was run over and killed here Monday afternoon by an Illinois Central freight train. Mr. Moeller had been to Mr. Pulaski and was returning to his home in this village. As the train pulled into the station Mr. Moeller went to the front platform of the caboose. The train gave a sudden jerk and he was thrown from the platform to the tracks and the caboose passed over his body after dragging it some distance.The injured man was alive when picked up and carried into the station, bu he died within a few moments.Mr. Moeller was over 80 years of age and was widely known in this section of the county. He made his home with Mrs. A. R. Liesch, his daughter, and before the death of his wife lived in Mt. Pulaski.
