ROBERT HUGHES DEAN, age 72 of Dean Hollow Road (the Gunton Park Community), Max Meadows, Virginia, died Saturday, October 14, 2000, at his residence.


He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late William Jasper and Dorothy Dunford Dean.


He was a retired truck driver with Roadway and a member of the Wytheville Moose Lodge.


He was preceded in death by several sisters.


He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Shelia and Tobby Nash of Pascagoula, MS; a son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Sandra Dean of Max Meadows, VA; two step-sons Kevin Crocker of Collierville, TN and David Wright of Pulaski, VA; five sisters - Helen Blevins of Dublin, VA, Carrie Lee Riggins of Draper, VA, Marie Hill of Pulaski, VA, Virgil Mann of Glenrose, TX and Mary Louise Kennedy of Clarksville, TN; four brothers - Clifton Dean of Wytheville, VA, Hubert Dean of Max Meadows, VA, Richard Dean of Pulaski, VA, Marshall Dean of Max Meadows, VA; a very special friend, Andrea Ratcliff of Max Meadows; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Barnes officiating.


Interment will follow in the Dean Family Cemetery, Gunton Park. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday or at the residence, 168 Dean Hollow Road at any time. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
