Frances Gohn Hull, age 90, of West Plains, MO, died April 13, 2004 at Garden Park Medical Center, Gulf Port, MS. Mrs. Hull was born Dec. 25, 1913 in Oregon County, MO, the daughter of the late Corwin Samuel Gohn Sr. and Mary Tommie Bishop Gohn.
She lived the early years of her life in Alton, MO, graduating from Alton High School in 1931. In 1938, she graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, MO, and returned to Alton to teach for fourteen years in the elementary and high school.
On May 23, 1947, she was married at Pocahontas, AR to Dr. Joseph S. Hull, Jr., who preceded her in death on April 5, 1988.
Shortly after marriage, Dr. and Mrs. Hull moved to West Plains, where Mrs. Hull lived most of the rest of her life.
Mrs. Hull was known for her positive attitude and sense of humor. She loved to read and cook.
Mrs. Hull was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Plains. She loved her church and was a member of the church choir for over 46 years.
She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star, Alton, MO, having been a member for over 50 years.
Mrs. Hull was an avid fan of the SMSU-West Plains Grizzlies, was a member of the Grizzly Booster Club and was a lifetime member of the Friends of the Garnett Library.
Mrs. Hull is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Evelyn Hull of Gulfport, MS; two grandsons; three sisters-in-law, Gretchen F. Gohn of Alton, MO; Lela Mae Gohn of West Plains, MO; and Maxine M. Gohn of Lee's Summit, MO; one nephew; and six nieces; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and dear and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Dwight Hewitt Gohn, her twin, George Daniel Gohn, and Corwin Samuel Gohn Jr.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Wood Gohn; and a nephew, Corwin Arthur Gohn.
The family will receive friends April 24, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, West Plains. Funeral services will follow, with Rev. Richard Wright officiating. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
