She was born January 4, 1927 in Wilkes County to Roby and Nellie Anderson Shumate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ethel Shumate Reeves; brother, Virgil Shumate, infant brother, Lewis Shumate and nephew, Henry M. Key.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 o'clock Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Liberty Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
