Jess Offield, 79, attended schools at Dickens County. He came to Breckenridge in 1920 where he worked for Galvez Oil Company as a production superintendent from 1930-1936. Jake Sandefer bought the Galvez Oil Company and Mr. Offield worked for him until 1943 when he formed his own company known as Offield Home Builders. He retired in 1966 and was a member of the First Christian Church, past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge #1480.
He married Peggy Mendenhall in Breckenridge on 20 October 1934.
Survived by his wife; one son - Gene Offield of San Antonio; one daughter - Helen McLawhorn of Warren, NJ; his father -Iran Offield of Breckenridge; four brothers - Malcolm, Herman, Tom and Eddie; one sister - Pauline Myers; two granddaughters; three grandsons; six great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son - Jake Offield and one grandson - Ronald McLawhorn.
