Clarence Eugene "Gene" Baughman, age 75 of Upper Sandusky died at 3:41 a.m. Saturday March 10, 2012 in his home in Upper Sandusky. He was born August 10, 1936 in Howell County, Missouri to Israel I. and Sadie (Willard) Baughman. In 1954 he married Helen Bartschte and they were divorced. On Sept. 13, 1981 he married Marilyn (Hufford) Barth in Thayer, Missouri.

Gene is survived by daughters Rebecca Estes of West Plains, MO, Charlotte Renee (Fred) Ray of Albuquerque, NM, Roberta (Allen) Hill, Fayetteville, AR, Rhonda Baughman of Winflow, AR, Roxann (Steve) King of Summerville, SC, stepdaughters Debra (Dale) Woods of Delaware, OH, Pamela (Mike) Dick of New Bremen, OH, a step daughter-in-law Deb Barth of Auburn, IN, grandchildren Arwen, Bronwyn, Barrett Estes, Christopher Johnson, Sam Hill, Lydia Hughes, Ethan King, Angela Hartman, Kevin Woods, Leann Bowman, Jennifer Dick, great grandchildren Jareth and Mikali Hill, Sharron Hughes, Peyton and Kendall Bowman, Hayden and Brayden Woods, sisters Mildred (Hubert) Risner, Martha (Bob) Jones both of West Plains, MO, Arlene Consoli, Santa Rosa, CA, and brother- in- law Fritz Hardt of Gilbert, AZ, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Matthew King, stepson Douglas Barth, great grandson Tyler Woods, sisters Frances Baughman, Leaota Hardt, brothers Lloyd, Homer Harold, and Gloyd "Bud" Baughman.

Gene started his career in construction at the age of 17 as a Superintendent building silos for various companies, with his final employer from 1959 to 1980 being Ruttmann Construction Company of Upper Sandusky, Ohio.

He attended the Wesley Methodist Church, Marseilles. He was a life member of the NRA, Senior Citizens Club, and an avid gardener and enjoyed wood working. Along with enjoying reading books of all kinds from gardening, anything to do with nature, Norman Rockwell, Louis Lamore books and the bible. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 13, 2012 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Ohmer Swart and Rev. Rick Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
