"Jim" Fair

Godfrey-Former Wood River resident James "Jim" Miller Fair, 84, died at 2:40pm Friday, May 31, 1991, at Rosewood Care Center, Alton.
He was a foreman in the Operations and Compounding Department at Shell Oil Co. in Wood River for 42 years, retiring in 1972.
Born in Fayette County on May 1, 1907, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha (Ginger) Fair.
He married the former Lydia Mary Hatfield on Dec. 22, 1924, in Decatur, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Fair of East Alton and James Fair of Godfrey; a daughter, Connie Port of Highland; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Rev. Eeva Hunt of Pana.
Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services are at 11a.m. Monday. The Rev. Dennis Armstrong will officiate.
Burial is in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Fund.
