Alma Rose MacDonald, age 84 of Medford, passed Monday in the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. MacDonald was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Ann (Lepore) Mattola. She retired as a Machine Operator after 30 years from First National Warehouse in Somerville. Alma was described as the glue that held the family together. Her true passion was her home, she enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and it was said that alma made the best pizza around. After marrying and moving to Medford, she became a Saint Joseph church member. She is survived by her husband Somerled, four loving sisters: Theresa DiGiacomo of AZ, Mafalda Tarzia of Somerville, Lydia Pasqual of Waltham, and Annette Dennis of Arlington, dearest nieces: Gale Fanciullo, Diane Dennis and many other nieces and nephews.
