Sudden Death of R.H. Montague

A telephone message from Calvert Tuesday night announced the sad death of R.H. (Bob) Montague at that place, which occurred at 8 o'clock p.m., while he was on his way home from Marlin with Pat Stovall in an automobile. He went to Marlin the day before to consult a specialist about his throat which had been giving him considerable (pain) since he had the "flu" several weeks ago, and nothing he did for it gave him any relief. After having his throat treated they started back home, and he had a smothering spell which caused his death. His remains arrived home over the H.&T.C. Wednesday morning and were conveyed to his home in West Caldwell, from where his funeral took place that afternoon at 5:30 with interment in Masonic cemetery, Rev's, Davis and Carrington conducting the services. Deceased was a carpenter by trade, and was one of the best in the state, an honest hardworking man, and he will be missed by us all. He leaves a wife and one little girl, his aged parents and several sisters, besides numerous other relatives to mourn his untimely death, and to these we extend our sincere sympathy.
