Helen Barnes Saucier Eslava was born November 11, 1921 to Shelton H. and Arrie Belle Baggett Barnes. She reached out for Jesus hand to take her home on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She was a child during the years of the Great Depression. She lost her father at age 11. When she was sixteen years old she married James R. Saucier. Three years later, WWII began. She saw her three brothers and her husband go to war. By the grace of God, they all returned safely.
She was made strong by living through these hard times. She was truly one of the Greatest Generation. She went to work at age 14 and joked that she was going to retire at age 85. The last of her work years was spent as a greeter at Saraland Walmart, where she made many friends. She left Walmart at age 86. She was a member of Ethel Ramsey Chapter No. 230 OES of Saraland, Alabama for over fifty years.
She was beautiful, strong, honest, kind and dependable. She was a perfect example of the Greatest Generation.

The celebration of her life will be held at Saraland United Methodist Church on Friday, July 12th at noon. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, AL.
