Mamie Agnes Thompson, 88, of 109 Cross Street in Oneida, died Thursday morning, December 9, 1993, at the Scott County Hospital. She was born in Scott County on December 30, 1904. She was the daughter of the late Frank Thompson and the late Sally Byrd Thompson. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by three brothers: Clarence Thompson, Luther Thompson and Ray Byrd; and a sister, Cora Lay. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida. Survivors include two sisters: Olive Byrd, with whom she had made her home for more than 60 years, and Gertie Hatfield, both of Oneida; four brothers: Argil Byrd and wife, Beulah, of Oneida, Ancil Byrd and Harry Byrd, both of Jacksboro, Tenn., and Elmer Byrd of LaFollette, Tenn. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Smith and Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Rev. Kazee also sang. Burial was in the Carson Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Brian Boshears, Jim Burchfield, Kenny Clotfelter, Scott Burchfield and David G. Byrd.
