Leslie Daniel McMillan, Sr. was born on a farm in Orin, Washington on February 25 1916. One of seven children. The family eventually moved to a great farm in Addy, Washington with cows, chickens and bee hives. One can only imagine that it was a wonderful place to grow up.

After school he moved to Seattle to work in a shingle mill. He lived with his Aunt and Uncle until it was finally suggested that he get his own place to live. He moved into a house boat on Lake Union. One night he and his friends went dancing and there Les met Jean Scott.
They courted and married in 1940. Les joined the Army Air Corps and they moved to Hondo Texas where he was stationed to pilot the student navigators.

After World War II and a daughter he and Jean moved back to Seattle. He opened a Shell service station and they created a family, Shawn and Les, Jr. and he lived in the family house for over 60 years. Jean was president of the PTA. Les was Indian Chief for Les, Jr. Dad built us go-carts, desks and a lighthouse for the fourth grade class.
