Felipe Santiago Garcia y Lugo was born at Monterey, Alta California, New Spain, on December 1 and baptized in the Presidio Chapel December 8, 1781 (SC Baptism 00659). He was the son of soldado Felipe Santiago Garcia and Petra Alcantara Lugo y Espinosa (both born Villa de Sinaloa, Sinaloa). He married (1) Native American neophyte Maria Ignacia (no surname) at Mission San Francisco de Asis (Dolores) on July 8, 1813 (SFD Marriage 01506). Six months after Maria Ignacia died he married (2) widow Maria Jacinta Hernandez y Ruiz de Cantua in the Monterey Presidio Chapel (San Carlos) on June 4, 1824 (SC Marriage 00922). On 4 Jun 1847 he married Native American Maria Ysabel at the Royal Presidio Chapel Monterey (no entry #). Felipe died in California sometime after 1860 as he appears with his son Felipe in the 1860 Census in Monterey.
