ZANG, KEWANEE MERCHANT DIES

Funeral Services Thursday

Kewanee, Jan, 17—Funeral services for the late Henry Zang, 76, prominent Kewanee merchant who died at his home 209 South Vine street early Tuesday morning will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Visitation Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. William P. Burke will officiate at a requiem mass, and burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Friends may call at the Cavanagh and Schueneman funeral home Wednesday afternoon and evening. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zang, he was born in Kewanee on Nov. 13, 1873 and had resided here all of his life. His father founded the Zang grocery and market, 224 North Tremont street, in 1866 and for 84 years the firm has been operated by the family. It is Kewanee's oldest business institution.

Following the death of his father, the Zang Bros. concern was operated by the sons, Louis P. Zang, John N. Zang and Henry J. Zang. The brothers preceded him in death and he has since operated the store with his sons, Henry N. and Paul R. Zang. He was a rector in the Peoples National bank of Kewanee and prominent in civic affairs of the city.

Mr. Zang was married to Lulu Heberling on Nov. 13,1903. To this union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving with Mrs. Zang are two son, Henry N. and Paul R., Kewanee, and a daughter Mrs. John Welch of California.

He was a member of Visitation Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus and several other fraternal organizations.
