John T. (Tom) Clayburn "Grandpa Tom" John T. (Tom) Clayburn, 76, passed away March 30, 2003 in Sandy, Utah. Born June 28, 1926 in Heber City to David and Mina Giles Clayburn.
Married Norine T. Taylor in Heber City March 6, 1944. Tom was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as an iron worker and steel erection contractor, and traveled all over the U. S. in the course of his work. He was an avid bowler and loved hunting and fishing. Tom was active in many trade organizations, and served as President of the Utah Steel Erectors Association. He was an avid Utah Jazz fan, and very sports-minded. Following retirement, Tom enjoyed spending time in his wood shop, where he made many special items for his friends and family. Tom never met a stranger. He was a friend to everybody and a dad to most. He served as a Boy Scout leader and influenced many young men in their lives. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by wife, Norine; daughter, Connie Blaylock; son, Lynn D. Clayburn (Sandy); eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Wall.
Preceded in death by sons Robert and Thomas, and by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services Thursday, April 3, 11 a.m., Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to services.
Heber City Cemetery. Tom's family expresses their special thanks to Harmony Home Health and Hospice, Utah Cancer Specialists, and Alta View Hospital for their kindness and care.
