NEWTON - Ann Hunt Connor, 84, of U.S. 70, East, Claremont, died Jan. 15, 2003, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born Dec. 4, 1918, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Carmie and Sophia Towery Hunt.
A member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, she formerly owned and operated Catawba Texaco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Connor; four sisters, Verna Frye, Geneva Sigmon, Ruth Johnston and Vera Bartles; a brother, Sgt. Hughes Hunt; and a daughter-in-law, Dena Connor.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Connor and Mel and Sabrena Connor of Claremont; a brother, Carl Hunt of Drexel; two sisters, Austeen Alley of Tocoma, Wash., and Doris Pappas of Falls Church, Va.; three grandchildren, Lisa Miller, Shea Connor and Brittany Connor; and two stepgrandchildren, Cindy Ballard and Anna Lyda.
The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Melton at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burke Mortuary, 2516 N. Main Ave., Newton. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Claremont. Pallbearers will be Robert Miller, B.T. Miller, Jerry Peeler, Tony Eagle, Bob Hunt, Philip Hedrick and Charles Murray. The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
