Son of Silas Nowell Lane and Velona Jane King. Married Abigail Smith. Had three children, Loring Stevenson Lane, Eva Lane, and Carrie Lane.

A shocking accident occurred here Thursday which resulted in the death of L. Q. LANE, a conductor on the Calais and Princeton road. The deceased was directing the load of a car near McAdams Wharf and by some mishap slipped in front of the locomotive, when the wheels passed over both legs above the knee. Surgical aid was immediately procured and amputation was performed on one leg, but death came to the relief of the sufferer on Friday afternoon. He belonged to Milltown (Charlotte Co.); left wife, three children.
