George W. Hills, 81, of West Springfield, PA died Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Tavares Hospital Waterman, in Tavares, FL.

He was born February 3, 1923 in Spring Township, PA, and was a son of Wallace A. and Edith E. (Congdon) Hills.

A Springfield area resident since 1940, he graduated from Springfield High School and attended Edinboro University.

He married Agnes Devlin November 25, 1942.

He was a career veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring after 23 years as a major.

He was a Teamster and a local truck driver mostly in Erie, PA, and was employed as evening terminal manager at Terminal Transport.

He was a member of West Springfield United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Springfield Post. He had served on the Northwestern School Board for over 20 years.

He was an avid boater and was a member of the Conneaut Boat Club and the Lake Erie Boat Club. He enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, four grandchildren, and two sisters

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers: Gerald V., Richard M., Rex, and Donald L. Hills.
