Barbara H. Slabaugh, 93, of Seaford passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 17, 2015.

Mrs. Slabaugh was born in Mifflin County, PA to the late Joseph and Nancy (Hostetler) Hostetler. She was a school teacher at the Greenwood Mennonite School and a substitute teacher in public school and at Epworth Christian School. She was also an aide at the Williamsburg, VA Community Hospital and cooked at the Hostess House.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and making alterations. She also loved to read, averaging 2 books a week. She was known for her hospitality, her home was always open, and she entertained for many years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 3 brothers Aaron Hostetler, Jacob Hostetler, John Hostetler; 3 sisters Lizzie Detweiler, Sylvia King, and Mary Adams.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred Slabaugh; children Kathy Chupp and Andy of Georgetown, Grace Lambert and Norman of Moravian Falls, NC, Sam Slabaugh of Delmar, DE, Chris Slabaugh and Joyce of Quarryville, PA, Nancy 'Pip' Spicer of Seaford; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday January 23, 2015 at 2 pm in the chapel of Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Rd., Greenwood, DE 19950, where friends may call after 1 pm. A visitation will be held at the Greenwood Mennonite Church on Thursday January 22, 2015 from 6 - 8 pm.

Flowers are accepted or donations in Mrs. Slabaugh's memory can be given to the favorite charity of your choice.
