Born in Canton, Ohio, she also resided in Florida and South Carolina. She lived in the greater Baltimore area for most of her life.
Over her last eight years she split her time between her daughters' homes in Allentown, NJ and Dushore, PA. Mrs. Stanley was a retired registered nurse.
She was a 1936 graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and was a U.S. Army nurse in World War II, serving in the 108th General Hospital Corps in Europe, where she met and married her late husband, Dr. Thomas Stanley, in France.
She was a great believer in volunteer work and always helped out wherever and whenever she could. She was an avid knitter, making children's caps and other clothes, most of which she gave away.
