On January 19, 1910 at West Chester, Iowa, he married Elizabeth Elnora Newlon, daughter of William Richard and Elizabeth Elnora (Day) Newlon from Washington County, Iowa. She died August 19, 1954. Mr. Leet was a graduate of Washington Academy and a deacon of the Baptist Church in West Chester, Iowa. He was a rural mail carrier for some years, and later owned and operated a school bus for 25 years in addition to operating his farm. They had six children all born near West Chester in Washington County, Iowa.

A few years after his retirement and the death of his first wife, he moved to Elkton, Virginia in 1956 where he met and married his second wife, Grace (Shook) Hensley on June 20, 1956. She was born in Rockingham County, Virginia on March 18, 1889 and was the daughter of William Alford and Laura Claranda (Dutrow) Shook. She died January 14, 1977 and was buried in Elkton, VA. He was one of the founders of the First Baptist Church in Elkton in 1962. He died in Harrisonburg, Virginia on February 18, 1969, and was buried in the West Chester, Iowa cemetery.
