Miss Belle Scudder, sister of Mrs. J. H. McNabb, Mrs. L. M. Mason and N. W. Scudder of this city, died at the residence of her parents in Green valley last Thursday after a long and painful illness and was carried to her long home in Sebastopol cemetery Saturday. Miss Belle was a loveable young lady and had endeared herself to many friends by her sweet, winning ways. When life seemed brightest she has been called to that home where there is no night, no sorrow and no tears to dim the eyes. Sunday the angel of death again entered the home and her aged father, who had lived his three-score years and ten, joined her in that celestial city whose builder and maker is God. Their separation was short. Mr. Scudder was an old and respected resident of the county, having resided here since 1860. His life work is ended and yesterday he was laid to his long rest beside his daughter. His devoted wife and children have had to drain the cup of sorrow to the bitter dregs. May time, the great healer, lift the shadow that darkens their pathway and help them to feel that they have passed out of the shadow into the sunshine and that it is well.
