Jesse Lee Lockyer, a Bellevue resident since 1971, died on February 28, 2012 at Everett Providence Hospital.
He was born December 13, 1921 in Gillespie, Il to Lucius W. and Edith (Pearson) Lockyer. He attended elementary and high school in Gillespie, and later graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Accountancy. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He spent most of his working career as a regular officer and pilot in the USAF, and also taught flying. Overseas tours included six years in Germany and one year in Pakistan. After retiring from the USAF, he worked approximately 10 years for the US Department of Education and retired as the Regional Commissioner of the Guaranteed Student Loans Division, HEW. Jess and Mary Lou were both very active members at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, son Robert, brother James, and sister Fern Davenport. Survivors include daughter Kim Lockyer Perry, granddaughters Katherine and Kristina, great-granddaughter Jessica, brother Charles R. and wife Ruth (Frankfort, KY), sister Rosemary (Knoxville, TN), brother-in-law Frances Grice (Sun City, West AZ)and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse came to live with his daughter in Snohomish during the summer of 2004 where he enjoyed eight very special years. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers Chasity Simpson, Guler (Ginger) Aktas, Kimberly Cardenas, Roxanne Hammond, Tabatha Melton, and Tessa Williams including her two sons Mathias and Mylan who played a very special part in "Papa's" life.
