Drucilla Earp Wheatley
1872 -- June 10, 1898

The death of Mrs. James Wheatley occurred at the home of her sister, Mrs. Fred Bowen, on West Broadway, last Friday evening, after severe suffering with consumption. Mrs. Wheatley's maiden name was Drusila May Earp and she was born at Iowa Center, in Story county, in 1872. Growing to womanhood she came to this city and made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Bowen. Here she met and was married to James J. Wheatley and afterwards they moved to Fort Dodge where her husband worked at his trade as a tailor. Mr. Wheatley died there and Mrs. W. then returned to this city to reside with her husband's mother, Fanny Wheatley, and her sister, Mrs. Bowen. Never very strong, her health failed, however, and besides her other relatives an interesting little daughter is left to mourn a kind and very dear mother.

Mrs. James Wheatley, whose illness we chronicled last week died Friday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bowen. Mrs. Wheatley has been sick for some time, and her death is doubly sad as she leaves two little children alone in the world except an aged grandmother; but God knows best.

Three years ago her husband died at Fort Dodge where he was working at his trade as a tailor and since then she has made her home with relatives in this city, her last home being with her sister, Mrs. Bowen.

The funeral occurred Sunday morning at the Bowen home
