Death of Morris Ludwig.
LUDWIG—In this city on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, 1889, of lung fever [pneumonia], Morris Ludwig, aged 35 years.
The deceased was taken ill at Minneapolis a week ago last Monday, and on his return to Brainerd he was worse and finally died at his residence in East Brainerd on Wednesday. He had resided in this city some six years, during which time he was employed by the Northern Pacific as a locomotive engineer. He was a member of Brainerd Division No. 44, B. of L. E. The funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church. Deceased leaves a wife and one child to mourn his loss. Resolutions of Condolence.
At a regular meeting of Division No. 144, B. L. E. [Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers], the following resolutions were adopted:
RESOLVED, That we deeply feel the loss of our departed brother, Morris Ludwig, who was called so suddenly from his earthly home.
RESOLVED, That in the death of Bro. Ludwig the company has lost a sober and reliable engineer, his associates a warm friend, his family a devoted husband and kind father, and Division No., 144 one of its most worthy members.
RESOLVED, That we tender his loving wife and son our sympathy in this hour of their affliction, and commend them to Him who has promised to care for the widow and orphan.
RESOLVED, That our hall and charter be draped in mourning for the space of thirty days, also thanking Pine City Lodge No. 81, B. L. E., of this city, for their attendance and helping to pay the last tribute of respect to our brother.
RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions be entered on the minutes of our Division, a copy furnished to the family of our late brother, also published in the city papers.
