Elsie B. James, 79, of 1014 1/2 Gihon Road, South Parkersburg, died in the St. Joseph's Hospital Sunday morning after a long illness.
She was born in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of the late William Christopher and Clarissa Gilbert Roby. She attended the former Baptist Gospel Temple.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence R. James, of Coolville; three brothers, Clarence Roby of Parkersburg, Bill Roby of Leesburg, Ga., and Robert E. Roby of Delong, Fla.; two sisters, Hazel King of Vienna, and Edith Adams of Panama City, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. James, in 1973.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, Pastor Gerald Wilson officiating, with burial in Sunset Memory Gardens.
