Haywood Batey, age 80 years, died Sunday June 1st in a Fort Worth hospital where he had been for some time. He had made his home for some three years with a niece, Mrs. Pearl Baxter in Fort Worth. Funeral services were held at the Cotton -Bratton Funeral Home in Weatherford by Rev. D. T. Knight and burial was in the Cox Cemetery southeast of Millsap. He was never married, and is survived by nieces and nephews, He had been a resident of this community for 58 years, a large number of friends attended the funeral service.

Gravesite Details
Shares stone with mother Eliza Evaline Batey nee Gober. The original stones for Eliza and Haywood Batey, Felix Harrelson McLemore and wife Isabella Batey, were destroyed by vandals at Cox Cemetery. Felix's granddaughters replaced their stones.
