"Issac Young Conger was the grandson of pioneer settlers of Berrien County- presently Tift County. His grandfather was Abraham Benjamin Conger who came from New York in 1836 to Lowndes County, Ga, married Ann Willis and moved to the Tiftarea. Issac's grandfather fought on the Confederate side in the Civil war. He and Ann Willis Conger had five sons: George, Abraham Jr, Barney, Joseph and Jackson. All settled in the Tiftarea.
Abraham Benjamin Conger Jr married Elizabeth Young and they farmed and worked in naval stores. Eleven children were born to them. This is their son, Issac, who became postmaster in Tifton."
