Carole Ann Spencer, 72, of 1057 Golden Mile Road, Towanda, Pa., Wysox Twp., passed away early Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Carole Ann was born December 30, 1939, in Barton, N.Y., the daughter of Donald J. and Aurelia Dunning Spencer.
She was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1957 and was later employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in Towanda for many years until her retirement.
Carole Ann loved spending time with her family, was an avid reader and enjoyed making jewelry.
Surviving are her: sister, Sharon L. (David) Weed of Towanda, Pa.; brothers, Alan L. (Madeline) Spencer of Orlando, Fla., Donald L. Root of Buffalo, N.Y., Kevin J. (Lisa) Root of West Seneca, N.Y.; nieces, Doreen Schrader of Towanda, Pa., Deidra Spencer of Sweet Valley, Pa., Kelly Spencer of Orlando, Fla., Katie Root of Buffalo, N.Y., Tracy Rosner of New Bern, NC, Kay Spencer of Daytona, Fla., Cindy Spencer of Orchard Park, N.Y.; nephews, Derrick Spencer of Sweet Valley, Pa., Jason Root and Daniel Root of Buffalo, N.Y., Kevin Root and Eric Root of West Seneca, N.Y.; as well as several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Jennings Spencer in 2005.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, South Main St., Towanda, PA with Pastor Jira Albers officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington, Twp., Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
