He was the son of Elisha Bradford and Bathsheba/Bathshua Le Brock, and a great grandson of William Bradford the Pilgrim. He was born in Kingston, Massachusetts.
He married Mary Gay (dau. of David Gay and Hannah) 18 Jun 1761 in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Their first child was born in Stoughton, then they removed to Meduncook Plantatation (now Friendship), Maine before 1765 where their second child was born.
