Richard F. (Bing) Gilbert, 61, 13567 W. 12th Rd., Plymouth, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after being ill one year. An area lifetime resident, Mr. Gilbert was born April 15, 1927 at Plymouth to James and Marie Tarant Gilbert. He was a maintenance supervisor with Con-Rail 44 years. He was married November 25, 1947 at Inwood to Jean Belt, who survives. Mr. Gilbert was a former member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Seabee. Surviving with his wife and two daughters: Mary Ann (Mrs. Larry) Neff, bourbon; and Sharon (Mrs. Thomas) Selner, Plymouth; six grandchildren; two sisters: Laurene Gunterman, Bremen; and Lauretta Berger, Plymouth; and two brothers: Ed Gilbert, Plymouth; and Donald Gilbert, Frankfort. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert, and one sister, Helen Platz, services will be at 11 AM Tuesday at Johnson's funeral home, Plymouth, with Rev. Brent Leichty of the Bourbon Chapel officiating. Burial will be a New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Marshall County.
