Samuel Bodine purchased at least 140 acres of land in Wayne County, OH in 1830 he bought 120 acres in the SE/4 of Sec 3 of East Union Township for a cost of $240.00. On 21 Dec 1838 he bought another 20 acres of the SE/4 Sec 3 at a cost of $280.00. From 1830 to 1838 the price per acre went from $2 to $14 per acre.

Barnes, Nancy Freeman, Eliza Stirk and Elizabeth Anchberger. To his unmarried daughter Lovina he bequeathed all of the household furniture. One hundred dollars was given to his grandson Elmer Tarr when he came of age, and the same to the heirs of his son Joseph (deceased). To his son Samuel, Jr. he left whatever personal property that was left on his farm when his father Samuel "moved to town" which is assumed to be Wooster, Ohio.
