Oren Crow
Oren "Red" David Crow, 78, of West Burlington died at 9:07 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born May 18, 1923, he was the son of Benjamin and Emma Hoobler Crow. He married Thelma Scarff on May 26, 1969 in Burlington.
Mr. Crow joined the Navy in 1940, at the age of 17, and served in the South Pacific. He worked as a printer for Curly Printing more than 30 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved to remodel homes and work on old clocks and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his wife, one stepson, Randy Ford, of Burlington, two stepgrandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, two sisters, Audrey Brockway of West Burlington and Dorothy Kiekel of Perry, Mo., and one brother, Leroy Crow of New Castle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9462, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League.
