Donald L. Lewis, age 70, of Clay City, IL died at 5:20 PM Monday, March 5, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born January 7, 1942 in Clay County, IL to Eldo and Eva (Hurd) Lewis. He married Martha Sparlin on October 18, 1958 in Fairfield, IL. Don was the owner of Lewis Drilling in Clay City and enjoyed the rough and tough life of the oilfield. He also enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting, and was a past member of the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife: Martha Lewis; mother: Eva Lewis; four sons: Donnie, James, Richard, and Mark Lewis; a daughter: Tammy (Dewayne) Coughlin; two brothers: Larry Lewis and Gary Lewis; two sisters: Debbie Jones and Jane Priest; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter (Teresa Lewis Bentley), and a brother (Mike Lewis).

The funeral service for Don Lewis was held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

Burial was in Bloom Cemetery.
