He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Auglaize County to Ralph and Grace Armstrong Koons.
On Jan. 27, 1991, he married Pauline Poppe, who survives. He also was married to Carol Corrigan, who died in 1987.
Survivors are a step daughter, Debra (Jeffrey) Tuneberg, Celina; a brother, George (Margaret) of St. Marys; a sister, Martha (William) Bollinger, Celina; two step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a step-daughter, Judy Walters.
He was retired as a commissary manager at the Lima State Prison and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a 1940 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
