MASON CITY- Jack O. Jones, 73, of Mason City, died at 11:24 am on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on November 9, 1938, the son of Ira and Maude (Brockman) Jones, in Mason City. Jack married Bonnie Leininger on August 16, 1965.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie; one daughter, Brenda (companion, Jeff Belcher) Jones; one son, Deron (companion, Beka Bergman) Jones and four grandchildren, Derek Jones, Kaylee Jones, Dalton Knazavich and Caleb Knazavich. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Jane Nehmelman, Virginia Hovey and Ruth (Merle) Rohlfs; one brother, John (Edna) Jones; also several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Mr. Jones was a member of the Mason City Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He worked for Caterpillar as a diagnostic technician retiring in 1993. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1956. Jack was an avid Cardinal fan, fisherman and also liked working in his garden.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Baptist Church in Mason City. Pastor Tim Earl will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 - 7 also at the church. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to his church or Mason City Food Pantry.
