Death of Capt. Wrenshall.
After an illness of only a few weeks, Capt. Charles C. Wrenshall died at his home on Tuesday afternoon. The funeral services were conducted at St. Luke's Episcopal church yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock and the body was interred by the side of his beloved wife, who preceded him to the grave a few years ago. Capt. Wrenshall is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters, namely, Messrs Wood and Charles N. Wrenshall and Mesdames J. B. Rees and J. W. Knight.
Capt. Charles C. Wrenshall, the descendant of a prominent family, was born in Pittsburgh, PA, Dec. 6, 1835. Shortly after coming to Lincolnton, NC in his young manhood, the war between the States began, and Capt. Wrenshall was one of the first of those who enlisted in the services of the Confederate States. Going out from this county with Gen. Dodson Ramseur, he served gallantly during the 4 years of the war, receiving 2 wound in the struggle.
Capt. Wrenshall, although of distinguished parentage and a highly educated gentleman, was nevertheless, modest, retiring, and as gentle as a woman, winning the love of many and the admiration of all. (The Lincoln County News, Aug 19, 1910, p. 3)
