Bert Roberts Tyler Tarter, 72, died at 7:45 PM Wednesday [Aug. 3, 1988] in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized one day, following one month of ill-health. Born March 31, 1916, at Nancy, KY, she was raised there, and for many years, lived at Talbot, KY. Her marriage was Aug. 27, 1931, at Somerset, KY, to Earnest Tarter, who died Sept. 26, 1985.

Mrs. Tarter was a former employee of Moews Seed Corn at Boswell, IN, and Essen Wire at Fowler, IN. She was a member of Free Methodist Church at Boswell. In 1978, she came to Lafayette to make her home with her daughter.

Surviving are her daughter, Loria (Mrs. Dale) Letson of Lafayette; two sons, James W. Tarter of Pueblo, OH, and Elmer R. "Rod" Tarter of Fowler, IN; one sister, Mildred Tyler of Nancy, KY; two brothers, Gilbert Tyler of Nancy, KY, and Albert H. Tyler of Shadeland, IN; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Flynn, in 1962.
