Mrs. Tarter was a former employee of Moews Seed Corn at Boswell, IN, and Essen Wire at Fowler, IN. She was a member of Free Methodist Church at Boswell. In 1978, she came to Lafayette to make her home with her daughter.
Surviving are her daughter, Loria (Mrs. Dale) Letson of Lafayette; two sons, James W. Tarter of Pueblo, OH, and Elmer R. "Rod" Tarter of Fowler, IN; one sister, Mildred Tyler of Nancy, KY; two brothers, Gilbert Tyler of Nancy, KY, and Albert H. Tyler of Shadeland, IN; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Flynn, in 1962.
