Bud Dooms was born in Missouri to Hardin Dooms and Tillie Davis Dooms. When he was 10 years old his mother died, so the family moved around a lot after that. He left school early to work, then came West in 1941 with some cousins who came out to visit the family from Washington. He stayed with his great Uncle and Aunt, Lewis and Maud Dooms, for a time in Dryad, WA and enjoyed fishing in the rivers and hunting the nearby woods.

He met and married Mildred Jones, then drove Taxi in Centralia during the War years . He operated a hamburger stand in Astoria, OR, then one in Shelton, WA, while working at Simpson Timber for years, retiring from there.

Bud never lost his passion for fishing, and retired to Republic, WA, mostly for the good fishing at the nearby lake. Due to health reasons, he moved back to Shelton and lived out the rest of his life there, enjoying fishing, turkey hunting, and clam digging.
