Danny Gordon, 73, passed away Sunday, March 4, after a long illness. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 9, 2012 in the chapel at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, with Dr. David Hartman, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Dan was born on May 5, 1938, in
Wichita Falls, Texas. He was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Gordon, whom he considered his parents. Also instrumental in his life and great mentors were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schultz.
Dan played football for Wichita Falls High School, and attended Southern Methodist University on a football scholarship. He continued his zeal for football throughout his life.
Dan worked at White's Stores in Wichita Falls, then began a long career with Dunn and Bradstreet setting up offices across the country. Returning Wichita Falls, Dan worked for the last fifteen years for his longtime friend, Ben Wilson, at Gas Corporation of America. He rose to the position of Executive Vice-President and was well respected in the industry, even by his competitors.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Dan treasured his many weekends with close friends at Lake Possum Kingdom. He was a member of the Wichita Falls Country Club and Maskat Temple.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents and by his soul mate, Linda Taylor. He is survived by his son and daughter, Daniel James Gordon and Rebecca Lynne "Becky" Nault, both of Houston. He is also survived by his step-son that he considered his own, Terry Dunno of Wyoming. His extended family includes James and Shelia Poole and Billy and Peggy Rogers of Wichita Falls and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his many dear friends who were family to him.
