Convalescent Hospital of lung cancer. A truck driver for the Marine Corps Logistics Base for 29 years, Harris lived in Newberry Springs for 55 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 751 in Newberry Springs, was second vice president of the Legion Ways and Means, and helped build the Legion building. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy, and of the Vietnam War, where he served in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Harris of Newberry Springs; a daughter, Barbara D. Dunsmore of Newberry Springs; a brother, Ed Harris of Tecumseh, Okla.; two sisters, Alice Little of San Jose and Irene Swanson of South Dakota; four grandchildren, Pamela Pasborg and James, Ryan and Gini, all of Superior, Wyo.; and his mother-in-law, Opal Johnson of Newberry Springs. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Daggett Pioneer Cemetery in Daggett. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, 222 E. Main St., Barstow, CA 92311.
