Gene Edward “Eddie” McCollum, Jr. was born on May 16, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the eldest son of Gene and Betty McCollum.

He graduated from Putnam City High School in 1971. After graduation, he attended Central State University.

He and his buddy Mark McQuerry died as a result of a horrible car accident that occurred on April 1 at NW 39th and Meridian in Oklahoma City.
