In 1910 Jacob was living on West Randolph Street with his widowed mother Amelia and his brothers. His father Anthony had died that year in Chicago.
Jacob served in the U.S. Army during World War I in the rank of a Wagoner in the Ambulance Company #130. He began his service on July 28, 1917. Both in 1918 and 1919 he was shipped out of New York for Brest, France where he continued to serve as a Wagoner in the dangerous war zones. He was honorably discharged.
In 1920 Jacob married his wife Anna who was originally from Texas. The couple lived in Oak Park, Illinois on Elmwood Avenue until their move to Texarkana, Texas where Jacob is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. Jacob and Anna had two sons. Jacob was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery on June 11, 1968.
