LIBERTY, MO. —
Edward "Ed" W. Crabtree Sr., 82, Gladstone, Mo., formerly a resident of Harrisburg, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Liberty Memorial Hospital, Liberty, Mo.
He was born April 8, 1929, in Muddy, the son of John S. and Anna M. (Wallace) Crabtree.
He was a Gary, Ind. resident for 53 years, retiring from the Gary Police Department after 20 years of service. He also served for eight years with the Newton County, Ind. Sheriff Department. He served in the military with the Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1949.
He is survived by his son, Edward W. Crabtree Jr. (Lynn); and grandsons, Christopher and Shawn Crabtree of Gladstone, Mo.; daughter, Brenda K. Goodman; granddaughter, Ashley; stepdaughter, Tammi Stupar of Griffith, Ind.; stepson, Todd Reeves of Gladstone, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Crabtree; three brothers, Emerson, John and Albert Crabtree; and two sisters, Geneva Jensen and Virginia Morris.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Sloan Funeral Home, Galatia, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Webber Campground Cemetery with full military rites by the Harrisburg and Carrier Mills American Legion and Marion Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Saline County Widows and Orphans through the Saline County Sheriff Department.
