Gale L. Powell, age 94 of Liberty, passed away on Monday May 24, 2010 at his residence. Born in Connersville on June 12, 1915, he is the son of Alva and Rose Hamilton Powell. He served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was a surgical medical assistant that served in France, Germany, and Belgium. Mr. Powell was a Round Dance leader and avid Square dancer. He was a member of the Whitewater Valley Squares, Nettle Creek Steppers, and Boots and Slippers. He retired in 1981 from the Hamilton Foundry after working there 19 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Adkins Powell whom he married on August 23, 1941 in Muncie, IN. He is also survived by two daughters and sons in law, Eleanor & Charles Moorman of West Chester, OH and Carol Jean & Pastor John Clegg of Muncie, IN also ten grandchildren Garry Waltz, Sherry Turner, Bonnie Griffin, Melody Gutshall, Roger Waltz, Joe Moorman, Dan Moorman, Jenny Davis, Charity Lahmeyer, Troy Waltz, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Powell, Jesse Powell, Francis Powell and seven sisters, Wilhelmane Blakley, Patricia Hensley, Helen Powell, Freda Campbell, Maxine Hensley, Marjorie Adkins and Nellie Nicholson.
