Conrad Butz was born in June 1878 in Volga, Saratov, Russia. He arrived at Ellis Island on Feb 21, 1899, on the ship Patria from Hamburg Germany with $10 in his pocket, making his way to Globeville, Colorado, under sponsorship of his Uncle Lucas Butz. He married Katherine Krieck shortly thereafter and worked for the railroad. They had six children in 14 years. He died in 1965 in Denver County, Colorado, at the age of 87, and was buried in Colorado at Crown Hill Cemetery.
