The Creator claimed the spirit of Danny Carroll Bohannon, 59, from his Iowa Park home on Sunday, March 4, 2012. A massive heart attack brought down the big heart of this giant of a man.
Danny was born September 17, 1952, to Bobbie Eugene and Martha Anne White Bohannon in Wichita Falls. After graduating in 1971 from Cooper High School in Abilene, he served one tour in Germany in Army intelligence, reaching the rank of SP5.
On May 12, 1978, Danny married Beverly Diann Klinkerman and resided with his family in Iowa Park for 33 years. Together they raised three sons.
A master machinist, he owned and operated B&P Machine Shop in Wichita Falls, where he not only made his living, but also visited with and encouraged dozens of family and friends on a daily basis.
Self-taught since the age of fourteen, Danny was an accomplished lead guitarist and a budding steel guitar player who played with numerous local country and gospel bands over the years. At the time of his death, he was playing in Southern Rain, the Lone Star Troubadours and Riding for the Brand at the Cowboy Gathering at Bunger, TX.
Although Danny ministered as musician, greeter and announcer at the Cowboy Church, he was proud of his lifelong membership in the Church of God based in Cleveland, TN.
He is survived by his wife; sons Brian of Wichita Falls and Clay Parker and fiancé Casey Jones and Wes and wife Tonya all of Iowa Park; two grandsons Logan and Brady Bohannon; father and wife Joyce and brother Steve and wife Sherri of Lubbock; three sisters Anne Compton of Bloomberg, Linda Oakley of Nashville TN, and Janice Floyd of Lubbock; three #1 brothers-in-law Mark Compton, John Oakley, and Chad Floyd; and numerous devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother and by Barbara Ann Northcutt Bohannon, his loving mother after Martha's death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 6, at 10 AM at the Texoma Cowboy Church, Hwy 281, Wichita Falls, with Pastor Jamey Burrus of Cowboy Gathering officiating. Burial will be at Clara Cemetery, 9 miles north of Iowa Park on FM 1813.
Instead of sending flowers, PLEASE bring one long-stemmed flower to lay on the casket and send donations to RATHGEBER HOUSE or HOSPICE OF WICHITA FALLS as a last tribute to this generous man.
