Robert A. Kennedy of 157 Spring St, director of welfare of the Borough of Red Bank and former member of the borough council, died yesterday morning at Riverview hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks. He was 88 years old. A resident of Red Bank more than 30 years, Mr.Kennedy was born in Rumson, son of the late Wellington W. and Sara Armstrong Kennedy.
A veteran of World War I. during which he served as a captain in the Red Bank cavalry troop, Mr. Kennedy was a past commander of Shrewsbury post, American Legion of Red Bank He was a past president of the Monmouth county League of Municipalities and past president of the Red Bank
Lionsclub.
Mr. Kennedy, who was chairman of the Red Bank Shade Tree commission,was a former member of the zoning board of adjustment. He was a member of the Red Bank Presbyterian church and Presbyterian brotherhood, Mystic Brotherhood,'
Free and Accepted Masons, and the Royal Arcanum.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Madeline Brill Kennedy; three brothers,James Kennedy, Fair Haven; Wellington Kennedy, Red Bank,and Lester H. Kennedy, Little Silver,and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Oldenbusch, Saddle River, N.J,
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2:30 p, m, at the Adams memorial home, with Rev. Charles S. Webster, pastor of the Red Bank Presbyterian church, officiating.
Burial will be In Fair View cemetery.
Mystic Brotherhood will hold
services tomorrow at 8 p, m, at the funeral home.
